Common questions

Why does the app need my location?

To show stations and prices around you. Without location you can still search by ZIP code, city or address. Background location is used only if you turn on live prices or price drop alerts. Read more in our Privacy Policy.

A price is wrong or out of date

Prices come from Google Maps, GasBuddy and official national price lists, and each card shows how old its price is. Stations change prices often, so check at the pump. If a price stays wrong, or a station is missing or listed twice, email us the station name and address.

Which countries are covered?

The United States and Canada, plus Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Austria and Germany from their official price lists. Elsewhere you see the prices Google Maps has.

Price drop alerts or live prices do not appear

Allow notifications for Penny Sentry in your phone's settings.
Set location access to Always (iPhone) or Allow all the time (Android); alerts are checked when you arrive near a favorite station.
On iPhone, make sure Live Activities are allowed for Penny Sentry.
Low Power Mode and battery savers can delay updates.

Do I need an account?

No. The app works without one, and your favorites and alerts stay on your phone. An account on the website adds a game watchlist, game price alert emails and fuel discount programs.

How do I delete my account or data?

Email support@pennysentry.com from the address on your account and we will delete the account and everything linked to it within 30 days. Data stored only in the app is removed when you delete the app.

Is the service down?
